Astroboy

Astroboy is set in the year 2000. In this future, there are electric highways, making manual driving unnecessary. A young boy named Astro Boykin is driving in one of these automatic cars, when a garbage truck pulls into his path, causing a major accident, & the death of the child. His father, Professor Boykin, decide to implant his son's memories into a robotic body. And thus, Astroboy is born!

His "father" teaches him many things, but when Astroboy doesn't get any bigger with age, he neglects Astor & sells him to a robot circus. One night, at a performance, a huge fire breaks out. Astro, leading the other robots, saves everyone of the spectators.

A scientist named Packidermus J. Elefun wants to set Astro free from his contract with the circus. Astro's owner won't let him go. After going through a lot of red tape, a new law is passed which frees all robots from lives of slavery.

Astro decides to stay with Dr. Elefun. He uses his powers to help good any way he can.

Astro Boy is the first Japanese television series that embodied the aesthetic that later became familiarized as anime. It originated as a manga in 1952 by Osamu Tezuka, who is often reputed as the "god of manga". After enjoying success abroad, Astro Boy was remade in the 1980s as Shin Tetsuwan
Atomu, known as Astroboy in the United States and other Western countries, and again in 2003. A CGI-animated film version of Astroboy hits theaters in October of 2009.
