BEANY & CECIL STARTED IN FEBRUARY 1949 AS A PUPPET SHOW.
CREATED BY FORMER WARNER BROTHERS DIRECTOR ROBERT CLAMPETT, IT STARRED A SEA-SICK SEA-SERPENT NAMED CECIL & A LITTLE BLOND BOY NAMED BEANY (NAMED FOR HIS HAT) WHO SAILED THE OCEAN LOOKING FOR ALL TYPES OF THINGS FOR REWARDS.
THEY SAILED THE SEAS IN THIER BOAT THE LEAKIN'LENA WITH IT'S CAPTAIN,BEANY'S UNCLE,CAPTAIN HUFFENPUFF.
WHO, WHEN THE ACTION GOT TOO HEATED, WOULD HIDE IN HIS HIDIN' CLOSET ABOARD THE LENA.
THE PUPPET SHOW AIRED FROM 1949-1955 AND WON 3 EMMY AWARDS.

THE CARTOON FIRST AIRED IN 1959 ON A SHOW NAMED TIME FOR BEANY.
THE FIRST CARTOON MADE WAS THE FAMOUS BEANY & CECIL MEET BILLY THE SQUID (ALTHOUGH IT WAS NOT THE FIRST ONE AIRED).
THE SHOW'S HUMOR RELIED ON PUNS & REMAINS SOME OF THE BEST WRITTEN CARTOONS EVER.
EXAMPLE, WHEN DAVY CRICKET IS ASKED IF HE WOULD GET MARRIED, HE SAYS"NEVER!". "WHY?", ASKS CECIL. "REMEMBER THE ALAMO-NY!!", DAVY BELTS OUT.
